Dear Mark,
On behalf of Students for Life at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor I would like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude for the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform's visit to our campus in September 2000. Having reflected upon your visit and impact on the campus for a few months the group has realized that its initial conclusion about the success of the Genocide Awareness Project has been confirmed. As a result of the Genocide Awareness Project Students for Life has seen its active membership base increase dramatically. We now have an average attendance at bi-weekly meetings of twenty-two students. G.A.P. has also energized our members to do more for the unborn and to not be afraid of being publicly and unabashedly pro-life on a majority pro-choice, secular campus.
The Genocide Awareness Project is something that will be talked about on this campus for many years to come. It made a visual (and thus long lasting) impact on the campus community in a manner that a debate with mere words would have failed to do. it also has taught students to literally open their eyes to what is going on all around them in nearly every major and minor city in the United States today. Additionally, G.A.P. indirectly opened up questions of freedom of speech and the diversity of ideas.
In closing, I'd like to again thank CBR for their commitment to the pro-life cause and for helping us to bring the pro-life message to a campus that sorely needs it. Every university and college campus in North America needs this kind of message the Genocide Awareness Project is one of the best ways today of communicating it.
Sincerely,
Andrew Shirvell
