Objections to the use of CBR’s Aborted Baby Billboard Trucks

The following is a recent email conversation between CBR's Executive Director, Gregg Cunningham, and a woman who wrote CBR to express her objection to the use of CBR's Aborted Baby Billboard Trucks:

Dear Ms. Smith,

Thanks for taking the time to express your concerns about our abortion photo billboard trucks.  Please find our replies below in red font:

I have witnessed your truck in Bloomington, IN within the last year.

All I have to say is that I am against capital punishment and you don't see me showing graphic images of the people that have been killed by this method.

Actually, you are quite wrong.  In fact, almost every word of your message is quite wrong:

This photo was widely published by opponents of electrocution and as a result the electric chair was virtually abolished as a method of execution.

I am also against child sex crimes and murder, rape, etc.  But it is wrong to expose people without consent to these images.  These images are disturbing (so I guess this is why you do it) but there are people in this world that have nothing to do with abortion and you expose them to these graphic images.

It is not fair.

If you believe abortion should be lawful, you deserve to be forced to look at what you support.  If you oppose abortion but are doing little to stop it, you deserve to be forced to look at what your apathy enables.  That is eminently fair.

How about instead of exposing innocent children to disgusting and graphic images, offer to adopt all of these unborn children.

Little children are exposed to graphic images every time their parents take them past the magazine rack at the grocery store.  We reject the double standard:

My wife and I adopted these three little girls who were abandoned on the streets at birth in China because they were female and had disfiguring birth defects.  And we are not alone.  Many, many pro-life Christians adopt unwanted children.  Please read this article:

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/072207dnmetfoster.210016b.html

Anyone can sit behind the wheel and drive that truck....get off your ass and go adopt the children who were born instead of aborted, who now are in need of homes, love, family, food, etc.  Most of which have been abused, neglected, or killed.

We do get out of our trucks to do the more than 200 campus pro-life displays we have conducted since 1998. Here we are at UC Berkeley:

At one school, 8 pregnant students said they changed their minds about aborting because they saw these photos.

The vast majority of children who used to be adoptable in this country are now aborted and the vast majority of children in foster care are not available to be adopted or have special needs requiring a level of care beyond the means of most prospective adoptive parents.

I just don't find your method the most effective.  I think your website and organization should be more about what you stand for and not about getting attention.  Try helping out local adoption agencies, talking nicely to these pregnant women and personally offering to adopt all those children.  There are about 42 million abortions worldwide each year, would you be able to help bring that number down by supporting even 10 of these children?  If you can't, who can?

This woman found our method of saving babies effective because she recently wrote us to say:

"I am currently 8 1/2 weeks pregnant with my third child....I was considering abortion despite my christian beliefs because of my selfishness...my 2 children are from my ex husband and this child is from my current boyfriend who does not want a commitment....despite the situation I cried immediatley after seeing these pictures and will be keeping my baby! They need to have this in school and commercials on TV!"

You can red many more testimonials from mothers whose babies our methods have saved at http://www.abortionno.org/index.php/site/feedback/C6/.

You are not helping this world by trying to stop something with negativity.

Only true kindness and compassion is what changes things and your nasty images are not anywhere near that.

You are wrong again.  Successful social reform always involves disturbing photos used to expose injustice:

It is sad to see so much energy put into an organization like this.  With so many children in need out there.  I would rather see the side of your truck peacefully state you are pro-life and live by it.  Fill that truck with toys, food, games, clothes, and have some clowns pop out of there to deliver happiness to kids in need.

Telling us we should conduct a “Toys For Tots”: drive is as bizarre as telling the American Heart Association they should be fighting cancer.  That is what the American Cancer Society does.  There is hugely more money being spent in this country to give the gift of toys to born children than is being spent to give the gift of life to unborn children.  Please give your priorities some fresh thinking.

What is the true reason behind your actions?  Do you really want to help?  I hope so.

The reason for our actions?  John 3:16.  We are praying you find the Peace of Christ which motivates us.  You will be in our prayers.

Since this PHOTO of electric chair execution went public...have you noticed that executions have stopped or even lessened?  Or have they just changed HOW they execute people?

So, are you saying that if they change the way they do abortions that it is any better?  What if they choose to give the fetus a pain killer and inject a poison into their system before hand?  Will you be okay with it then?

Slavery was outlawed incrementally, by first abolishing the slave trade and then blocking slavery’s expansion into the territories and new states.  Even the Emancipation Proclamation only freed slaves in the states of the Confederacy.  Injustice is nearly outlawed one step at a time.

I am also against child sex crimes and murder, rape, etc.  But it is wrong to expose people without consent to these images.  These images are disturbing (so I guess this is why you do it) but there are people in this world that have nothing to do with abortion and you expose them to these graphic images.

Not everyone is in support of abortion!

A lot of normal people that are against something simply choose to have nothing to do with it.  Not every one who sees your disgusting images are in support of abortion. Do you think these meek christian people all like to view this? No!  Jesus talked against all kinds of things (sodomy, rape, adultery, incest, hate, etc.) and you did not hear about him going around exposing innocent people to the negative images that were associated with these topics.  I really think GOD would look at you in disgust for exposing HIS innocent people to disgusting, graphic, hateful images. Yes, you can reply that GOD would look at the people having and giving abortions in disgust.... BLAH>>>BLAH>>>BLAH>>>

Perhaps you haven’t noticed that Jesus exposed people (including children) to an extremely horrifying image:

How about instead of exposing innocent children to disgusting and graphic images, offer to adopt all of these unborn children.

Little children are exposed to graphic images every time their parents take them past the magazine rack at the grocery store.  We reject the double stndard:

Can you really compare your images to the cover of this magazine?  We might as well compare the cover of Cosmopolitan to Porn.

Have you been living in a cave?  That looks pretty comparable to me – and it does to most children!

My wife and I adopted these three little girls who were abandoned on the streets at birth in China because they were female and had disfiguring birth defects.  And we are not alone.  Many, many pro-life Christians adopt unwanted children.  Please read this article:

Why in the world are you not supporting the children in your own community?  Your neighbors?  Try adopting the children from INDIANA welfare system....or at least the United States

Americans kill so many children through abortion that nearly none survive to be adopted.  The vast majority of children in foster care are not available to be adopted and most of those who are tend to be older children with problems which exceed the resources of most prospective adoptive parents.  Add a governmental bias against interracial adoptions and you force parents to go overseas to find babies who need parents.

We do get out of our trucks to do the more than 200 campus pro-life displays we have conducted since 1998.  Here we are at UC Berkeley:

I did not mean do pro-life displays.  I meant help the children in need in our communities.  Not help support making more children in need.

When we stop an abortion we aren’t making a child.  We are keeping a child already made from being killed.

At one, school 8 pregnant students said they changed their minds about aborting because they saw these photos.

The vast majority of children who used to be adoptable in this country are now aborted and the vast majority of children in foster care are not available to be adopted or have special needs requiring a level of care beyond the means of most prospective adoptive parents.

So let's talk these young women into having these unwanted babies so they can be abused and live in unfit homes.  How many of these pregnant womens homes have you visited to see if it is even a good enviroment for a new life?  How many of these women you have talked into giving birth have went on to abuse or kill these young children? Is it worse to have a doctor end the life quickly or have this child be abused for years before they die horribly from the one person they trust and love the most?  I am a vegan, not because I think it is wrong to kill animals, but because I am against the pain and suffering of factory farming.  The same goes with abortion.  You can either do it humanly, or have an individul suffer from pain and abuse for a loooong time, also known as tourture.

How do you know who is going to be abused and who isn’t?  And who gave you the right to decide what levels of suffering justify murdering the sufferer.  That is Nazi stuff.  You care about animals and kill children.  We are praying for your soul.

We will be reading their stories as they are in the courtroom for killing or abusing their unwanted children.  Hearing the horror stories of how they could not stand their child and abused them.  You cannot not disagree that this happens all to often.  People do have mental issues...they could give these children up...to a system that will be stacked against them.

You sound like a dangerously violent person with a God complex.  It is very troubling that you think the solution to social problems is to kill people.  That is very sick and we suggest you consider getting some counseling.

You are not helping this world by trying to stop something with negativity.

Only true kindness and compassion is what changes things and your nasty images are not anywhere near that.

You are wrong again.  Successful social reform always involves disturbing photos used to expose injustice:

Oh yeah.  I forgot...that that is how Jesus preached peace. Oh wait.  That is what Hitler said! Right....

You know the difference between Hitler and Jesus and if you don’t, I assure you that you that someday you will.

It is sad to see so much energy put into an organization like this.  With so many children in need out there.  I would rather see the side of your truck peacefully state you are pro-life and live by it.  Fill that truck with toys, food, games, clothes, and have some clowns pop out of there to deliver happiness to kids in need.

If you are PRO LIFE then support it!  All you do is try to change the minds of these women and then expect someone else to take care of the outcome.  It would be like the American Heart Association not helping heart attach survivors.

We have a staggeringly expensive welfare system which takes care of people in need.  Add secular and church charities and the 3000 crisis pregnancy centers (two operated by my wife) providing free services to mothers in need and there is no excuse to kill children.

What is the true reason behind your actions?  Do you really want to help?  I hope so.

The reason for our actions?  John 3:16.  We are praying you find the Peace of Christ which motivates us.  You will be in our prayers.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

I guess you can't argue with someone who pulls quotes from the bible.  A book that many interpret for themselves.

Ok...you got me.  All I have to do is believe and I will have eternal life???!!!! Wow.  I guess I am screwed. I will just continue living my life without this crazy bullshit.

We are praying for you Jane Smith.
