Dr. Janet Daling and her colleagues conducted a study funded by the National Cancer Institute to explore the connection between abortion and breast cancer. They reports found that a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer was 50% higher if she had had an abortion. If a woman had had an abortion in her teenage years, then the risk was 100% higher. Clearly, if the number of women who have lost their lives to breast cancer that developed as a consequence of a past abortion were included among maternal deaths owing to legal abortion, the death toll for mothers who choose to terminate their pregnancies would be much higher.
